Weems, Brenda M. Lewis Health Profession Scholarship

The Brenda M. Lewis Weems Health Profession Scholarship was established to encourage more students to pursue careers in the health professions. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Ms. Brenda M. Lewis Weems, RN, MSN, CNP; Paul G. Perantinides, Esq.; and Chris T. Nolan, Esq. Ms. Lewis Weems received her bachelor of science in nursing from the College of Nursing in 1995 and completed her master of science in nursing, including a subspecialty as an adult nurse practitioner, at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in 1999. Both Mr. Perantinides and Mr. Nolan received their law degrees from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, in 1969 and 1973 respectively. The Brenda M. Lewis Weems Health Profession Scholarship will be awarded to students who are pursuing a degree in the College of Nursing or the pre-medical program at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. Students in the College of Nursing can be pursuing an undergraduate, masters, or doctoral-level degree, and preference will be given to students who are in the Nurse Practitioner Program. Students who are in the pre-medical program will be awarded this scholarship in honor of Dr. Margo S. Prade, an Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ physician who dedicated her life to her community and served as a mentor to many young people. The scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria: be enrolled with a minimum of 6 credit hours; be employed full time (preferably); maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and are ineligible or deemed ineligible for federal or state grants. The Office of Financial Aid, in collaboration with the College of Nursing, will determine the recipients.
