Reid, C. Alison Endowed Scholarship in Education

The C. Alison Reid Endowed Scholarship in Education was established at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in 2018 by C. Alison Reid (and revised in 2023) to continue her legacy of promoting education, which she believes is lifechanging, especially for women. Alison and her family lived in Northeast Ohio for the early part of her life, and she graduated from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ in 1977. The next year, she moved to Southern California and has called it home ever since.

As a member of the Herb Society of America, Alison teaches culinary classes, focusing mainly on studying and educating others about herbs. She also was the host of an award-winning television cooking show that aired on cable networks in nine western U.S. states, earning top ratings for nearly two decades. She is a member of Soroptimist International of Long Beach, California, a worldwide volunteer service organization for women and girls that works for peace and to improve the lives of women and girls in the local community and throughout the world. In addition, Alison has always lived her life by answering God's call. She is actively involved with Confirmation classes in her church, the meditation group, Centering Prayer, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and many other Christian activities that work to strengthen the community. More recently, she rediscovered her love of dance and has been dancing competitively since 2020, winning gold at numerous competitions.

Alison believes strongly that success and opportunity are the rewards of hard work and encourages the recipients of her scholarship to always give 100 percent. Because of Alison's passion for education, her scholarship will assist students pursuing education degrees.
