Jackson, Harry E. Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Scholarship
The Harry E. Jackson Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Scholarship was established through a gift from Harry E. Jackson to support gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. Mr. Jackson earned three degrees from the University: a bachelor in accounting (’70), a master in accounting (’74), and jurist doctor (’80). Mr. Jackson worked for BFGoodrich Corporation for 27 years, retiring as director of international and federal taxes in 1999.
Mr. Jackson’s goal is to make this scholarship available only to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered students. Selection is to be based upon financial need and academic achievement. Scholarship applications will be sent to the appropriate campus organizations. Grants will cover tuition, fees, books, room and board, all or in part. Separate grants also may be provided for educational programming for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered groups. Selection will be made by a committee comprised of the following personnel: Harry E. Jackson; faculty advisor(s) to the University organization(s) for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered students; and representative(s) from the Office of Student Financial Aid.
