Sayers, Jeremy and Kristen Endowed Scholarship in English
The Jeremy and Kristen Sayers Endowed Scholarship in English was established in September 2023 by Jeremy '82, '87, '10 and Kristen '97 Sayers in honor of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ's We Rise Together Campaign. Jeremy, a first-generation college student and three-time graduate, earned his B.A. and M.A. in English as well as an M.F.A. at UA. Upon graduation, Jeremy taught English as well as Theater Arts at both Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ and Kent State University. Jeremy is a journeyman union stagehand and a lifetime member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. While at the television station WUAB, Jeremy met his wife, Kristen. Kristen graduated with her B.S. and M.S. in Communication from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. She would later return to school to earn her B.S.N. with Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.
Jeremy has published numerous stories and poems. One of his notable works is "Fenceline and Other Stories" which was published in 2014. Jeremy and Kristen understand the transformative power of higher education and established this scholarship because they believe that a liberal arts education is necessary for a well-balanced society. Without artists, entertainers, and open-minded people, life would be bleak for everyone.
