The papers also include published articles and manuscripts by Dr. Arnstein and his associates, scripts for speeches and presentations given by Arnstein, and publications and clippings related to Arnstein’s career interests.

Arnold (1924-2001) was a City of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ employee who fought for education reform and equal rights for women and African-Americans in the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ/Summit County area. She was the first African-American woman to serve on the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Board of Education and served in various capacities on numerous boards and organizations, including President of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Branch of the NAACP. Her papers include speeches, writings, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and subject files that document her life and work and the organizations on which she served.

The records consist of meeting minutes, financial records, correspondence, photographs, membership lists, articles of incorporation, and constitutions and bylaws of the post. Range: 1926 - 1970 Size: 0.2 Record Group:Sterling W. Alderfer (1897-1983) was an industrialist and inventor from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Ohio with over 200 patents in the rubber and related industries. He worked for the India Rubber Co. and founded several businesses in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ including the Andrews-Alderfer Co., the Tel-O-Post Co., the Sterling Alderfer Co., and the Steelastic Co. His papers include diagrams, booklets, journals, and patents that document his life and work.
Albrecht, F. W., Grocery Company Records
Range: 1900 - 1999 Size: 50 cubic feet Record Group:Fred W. Albrecht of Massillon, Ohio opened his first grocery store, later known as Acme No. 1, in 1891 at the corner of Buchtel, Sumner, and Center streets in Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ. The company grew to 100 stores at its height in the 1930s and now consists of 15 locations throughout northeastern Ohio known as Acme Fresh Market stores. The records consist of publications, advertisements, photographs, newspaper clippings, audiovisual materials, and artifacts documenting the Acme, Click, and Y-Mart stores over a 100-year period.

Operation of the railroad, which originally ran from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ to Mogadore, Ohio began in 1912, but later acquisitions and mergers led to 171 miles of track running from Mogadore to Delphos, making connections at 21 different junctions with nine different railroads. The records include articles of incorporation, minute books, stock records, maps, and other materials that document the history of the AC&Y Railroad Company and its predecessors and other affiliated railroads.

Range: 1953 - 1999 Size: 2 cubic feet Record Group:The Greater Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Arts Federation (GAAF) was founded in 1968 for the purpose of acting as a ”clearing house” for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Ohio area art groups. Due to a lack of resources and support, the GAAF dissolved in 1975 and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Area Council for the Arts (AACA) was formed to educate and encourage the community in the appreciation, enjoyment, and support of the arts. Range: 1917 - 1937 Size: 1 cubic foot Record Group: 99/97The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ City Water Department was created by City Council in 1912 to address the city’s mass problem of a water supply polluted by the burgeoning rubber industry. The photographs include numerous 3"x 5" photographic prints recording the construction of the Water Department including major additions of the water purification plant, extensive water main surveys, new water towers, stand pipes, and pumping stations. While the photographs are technical in content, they also contain views of streets, neighborhoods, and working conditions of early 20th century Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ.
